Khayelitsha Grief and Loss Project provides quality grief support group sessions for school boys and girls in the Khayelitsha area in Cape Town, South Africa.
This includes ongoing support and training of female and male volunteer facilitators who are running these support group sessions in schools.

The trauma of grief and loss affects every aspect of a child’s life.
There is a great need to increase our services in township schools due to the high death rate our community experiences and the increasing number of orphans. We are concerned that the orphans, who are being left behind with new caregivers or in child-headed households, do not have the support and coping skills to deal with their losses.
Grief and loss support groups provide a caring environment and a sense of belonging as well as skills.
